Titanic

The movie Titanic is a drama/disaster film directed by James Cameron. The movie was released on December 19, 1997. Everyone has seen Titanic because of how amazing it is. A lot of people love to watch drama and love stories even though it became a sad at the end of the movie when everything starts going bad.

This movie has a lot going on in it. It is about how these two people fall in love on this ship that eventually hits an iceberg and sinks. The two people who falls in love are named Jack and Rose. Jack was a poor man while Rose came from a wealthy family who wanted her to marry someone as wealthy as her. Her family couldn’t stand seeing her hanging around a poor man so they did everything they could to keep them away from each other. Around the end the ship hits an iceberg and starts sinking while Jack was handcuffed down in the cellar in the ship. Rose couldn’t find Jack for anything and then finally found him and saved him. They both found a way out and tried their hardest to stay together. Rose refused to get on the life boat without Jack. They got off the boat but the water was so cold. Jack started giving up and eventually died. Rose was rescued right after Jack died.

This movie had a strong hook because at the beginning they opened it with Rose in her olden days looking at the picture that the scuba divers found (338). Jack drew that picture of  her when they was on the ship and she started thinking about her past and about her first actual love. They also opened it with rose knowing that she is the most important character in this movie and it is about her love life (339). The movies adheres was a five out of five of the elements of a riveting first line.

Happiness

Everyone has the question wondering what happiness really is. Well happiness is actually a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy (google.com). Anyone can say they are happy but deep inside them they are hurt or depressed about something. Life can be simple and easy to where you think you have happiness but then everything starts falling apart and you become depressed.  As Adam Phillips stated, “Anyone who could maintain a state of happiness, given the state of the world, is living in a delusion.” I honestly agree with this statement. People who can maintain happiness have to be forcing their self to be happy constantly.

I agree with this statement because of how this world is today. You see the most famous, wealthy people kill their selves because of how unhappy they are. The one person who comes to mine with this is Robin Williams. He would found in his home dead because he hung himself. He had to have something going through his mind to kill himself. He had a wife and kids. He had everything but still ended his life. Another person was Chester Charles Bennington the lead singer of Linkin Park.  He was also found in his home dead because he hung himself. He was struggling with depression and addiction but if you looked at him you would think he was happy and nothing was wrong (Kory Grow). He had everything, he had a band, money, and a wife. So you see just because people may seem happy don’t mean they actually are. Anything can be in the mind to cause someone to be unhappy and have suicide thoughts.

In Chapter 14, it states that some books out there that discuss how money can buy happiness according to Elizabeth Dunn and Michael Norton. I do believe in some people money can buy happiness but that’s only because they are either use to not having money or they buying it on drugs. Like for example, a homeless man would be happy to have some money to go eat on or buy some cloths and druggies would be happy to get money to buy their drugs. This wouldn’t keep them happy for long though. When people have money though it don’t even bother them. They could careless to have money it wouldn’t make them happy. This is why money doesn’t always buy happiness or keep you happy.

Rumor

Rat Meat Sold as Chicken Wings?

Many people in this world start rumors. It happens everyday even when you don't think it does. people do this to hurt other people or companies reputation. I have seen many rumors about restaurants every year. Some of the rumors maybe true but many of them are just lies.
This article said that "300,000 pounds of counterfeit chicken wings was sold prior to 2016's super bowl was actually rat meat."(Snopes) This was found out to be a lie. According to Kim LaCapria, the source who found out this was false, said the source cited for the article was World News Daily Report. This source is a well known peddler of fabricated news (LaCapria).
This article had a lot of people around the world in a big scare thinking they have been eating rat meat instead of chicken. This was a big issue because on Super Bowl Sunday chicken wings are the biggest seller of that night. Chicken wings are usually the first thing to be sold out at a lot of restaurant and fast food places because everyone hurries up and buy them up for parties. I bet a lot of people became disgusted when this rumor came out.
This article did say that one million pounds of rat meat was actually being sold as boneless chicken wings around America. is has been said to be true. FDA inspectors was concerned when they found many illegal shipping containers coming from China  that was filled with rat meat(Snopes). They found out that the containers was suppose to be shipped to different  meat processing plants across America to be resold as chicken meat (Snope).
I found out that some of this was a lie but then some of it came out to be true. This has me scared because now I will never know what I am actually eating. I love boneless chicken wings but I don't know if I will anymore. Rumors can sometimes spread the truth about the things people try to keep a secret.

My ethical dilemma would have to be the right to die. I chose this because my grandma suffered a painful death because the hospital refuse to let her choose her own death. This caused me to want to actually want to do something to try and help these people who want to die with their dignity. The right to die means someone in their right set of mind should be able to choose when they want to die with out someone telling them they can't. ( http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/right-to-die)
The source of ethical standards I used was making decisions. This is because everyone should be able to make a decision on when and if they pass away sooner then they are suppose to. I sat their and watched my grandmother beg the nurses to just let her die but they refused. she knew she didn't have many days left. She was tired of suffering and hurting everywhere. It was hard just sitting there watching her suffer and beg for her life to be taken away. I also used the ethical standard of putting the approaches together. Many people are against the right to die because they say its going against gods will but I honestly see it different then everyone else.
If I had to either follow or go against one of the steps for the ethical decision making process, I would be under both Teleological ethical theory and Deontological theory. This is because I would go to jail to help my grandmother not suffer anymore. I would do what she was begging everyone else to do. I wouldn't do it to just kill her I would do it to help her out and stop her suffering. It is against the law for the right to die in South Carolina but it is legal in some other states.
The right to die would be under stage 5 in the book named "Social Contract and Individual Rights". I chose this because everyone has their individual rights to where they should have the say whether or not they want to die early or not. It takes their dignity away when they get told they can't choose their own decision especial if they are in their right mind. The law is what is keeping these innocent people from taking their life when they decide they want to go. The law doesn't influence my decision it is against it.
I chose the Right to Die because it impacted my life a lot and this is a big ethical issue. People say its against their religion and its against the law but honestly I think everyone should have a choice.
